Day 2

Finally it's action day. Action also for teachers as Ben Oh was running a fever this morning. The temperature went down a little after we put him to rest for whole day. Doctor at the hospital diagnose it as Acute Tonsillitis....can kill with Anti-biotics, good. Better than errr H1...Will continue to monitor his condition over the next few days.
OH yah action...The 2 games we played were both of very high standard.
Singapore Schools managed to win 15-4 against the Shilin Commerce High School, capitalising on the less experience pitcher. But scoring from their impeccable defence is by no mean easy.
With back to back schedule, we play the team we came for, Song Yuan High School (They had just won the Taiwan, yes! Taiwan, High School Softball Championship) This team, despite their younger age, is so well trained that we can equate them to our say under-19 boys distance for distance. We ride on the stick from the first game to score 5-0 till the 4th inning where by crucial errors and walks allowed them to catch up to 5-7. Nonetheless, Team Singapore Schools adjusted to tighter defence and offence to catch up with runners on bases. Unfortunately, the game was abandoned due to poor visibility as the sky started to get dark at 5pm. It was really an eye open for all of us. the starting pitcher is just a 14 year-old girl and her speed is easily 85plus at 40ft. Really an eye opener. We would have lost with respect. but I guess the experience take home for the boys is priceless. This should let us be better prepared for tougher games to come on day 3 in Puli.

It is shopping time for us at another Baseball and Softball specialty shop. Dinner is free and easy in Ximen Ding, a famous shopping district for young people. That leaves the "old teachers" having dinner hosted by the committee member, Mr Tang of the Taiwan Softball Association.
Roll call at 2230hrs done. Guess everyone is tired after the hectic afternoon. It's early set off tomorrow to Puli..here we come. Photos link below. ZZZzzzz
